Job Summary
North Central Academy is seeking a Behavior Support Specialist to lead the In-School Suspension (ISS) room and mentor students when they need guidance most. This role is about more than supervision. It is about building relationships, speaking into students’ lives, and helping them grow through accountability and restoration. The Behavior Support Specialist helps students reflect on their choices, stay engaged academically, and return to class ready to succeed.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead and manage the In-School Suspension (ISS) room, maintaining a structured environment.
· Tutor students and ensure completion of classroom assignments during ISS.
· Monitor and track student assignments and grades to keep students on pace academically.
· Communicate with teachers regarding student work and missing assignments.
· Hold students accountable for behavior and expectations.
· Collaborate with teachers and staff to address student academic or behavior concerns.
Qualifications
· No teaching certification required
· High school diploma required
· Ability to build strong relationships with students while maintaining clear expectations
· Strong communication and organizational skills
· Ability to mentor students and support their personal growth
· Successful completion of background check and fingerprinting
