The position of Law Clerk is a part-time, on-site role based in Raleigh, NC, supporting the Party’s legal, compliance, and policy-related activities. This position is unpaid. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting legal and legislative research and reviewing and summarizing statutes, regulations, and case law relevant to the organization’s operations and initiatives. The Law Clerk will assist with drafting, formatting, and organizing legal documents, policy memoranda, and internal guidance. The Law Clerk is expected to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and uphold strict confidentiality and ethical standards.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Law, including familiarity with constitutional, election, and administrative law.
- Experience with Legal Document Preparation, such as drafting memos and briefs.
- Excellent Research skills for analyzing statutes, regulations, case law, and legislative materials.
- Advanced Writing and Communication abilities to produce clear, accurate, and well-structured legal and policy documents.
- Currently enrolled in or completion of a law degree
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Proficiency with legal research tools and standard office software (e.g., Westlaw/Lexis, Microsoft Office, PDF editing tools).
- Demonstrated commitment to ethical standards, confidentiality, and professional conduct in a legal or policy environment.
