Responsibilities
This position investigates compensation claims for approval of payment as outlined in appropriate statues and division policies and procedures. Claims must be processed in a timely and efficient manner. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a point of contact for the gathering of investigative information from law enforcement to complete recommendations of award or denial for submitted claims, according to NCGS Chapter 15B and appropriate policies and procedures. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits including paid vacation, paid sick leave, paid holidays, retirement, and health insurance. Other responsibilities include:
- Maintain an effective working relationship among law enforcement agencies and executives.
- Work involves the investigation of claims submitted for resolution through the Victim Compensation fund to verify legitimacy of claims, detect fraud, and verify submitted law enforcement information.
- Maintain an effective working relationship among court officials, such as district attorneys, victim witness program officials, victim advocacy groups, law enforcement agencies, and other governmental agencies and private organizations. Work involves maintaining a high degree of visibility among law enforcement personnel and constituent groups to promote program services.
- Responsible for testifying in court and before the Commission and other personnel and agencies as may be appropriate.
- Responsible for projects as may be assigned by the Director.
