Minimum Experience/Education

Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or and equivalent combination of training and experience.

All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

Some college coursework or a bachelor’s degree is preferred. One to two years of professional experience in international education, higher education, or a related field is required. Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience supporting international programs, student services, academic administration, or office financial operations. Candidates should demonstrate excellent cross-cultural communication skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a commitment to providing high-quality support to students, faculty, staff, and international visitors, including oversight of budgets, financial tracking, and reporting as part of program administration.

Position Overview

Primary Purpose Of Position

  • Serve as a central point of contact for students, faculty, staff, and visitors, providing guidance on study abroad programs, international student and scholar matters, and institutional policies. Communicate regularly through in-person meetings, email, and phone to clarify expectations, respond to inquiries, and ensure stakeholders receive accurate and timely information.
  • Manage and process all administrative forms, documentation, and records related to students, faculty, staff, and international programs. Track deadlines, monitor compliance with institutional and federal regulations (including SEVIS and visa requirements), and generate reports to support program operations and institutional reporting.
  • Oversee office operations, including coordination of international travel approvals, insurance, financial documentation, budgets, invoices, and reconciliations, ensuring adherence to university policies and efficient workflow.
  • Exercise sound judgment in addressing inquiries and resolving issues, coordinating with internal offices when appropriate, while maintaining confidentiality, adhering to FERPA and other privacy standards, and providing a professional, stakeholder-centered approach.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of office processes, ensuring efficient communication, accurate record-keeping, and high-quality support for all aspects of international affairs administration.

Primary Function Of Organizational Unit

The Office of International Affairs ( OIA ) at North Carolina A&T State University provides support and guidance for international students and faculty, facilitates study abroad and exchange programs, and promotes cross-cultural engagement to advance the university’s international mission and strategic goals.

Work Hours 8:00 am-5:00 pm, Monday - Friday

Is this position eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement, consistent with university and state policies. On-site (Employees are primarily in the office and/or have a critical job requirement that requires dedicated office space on-site)

Key Responsibilities and Related Competencies

Required Competency Communication - Verbal/Written

Duties

Communicate regularly, both in person and through email and phone correspondence, to guide students through the study abroad process from application through return. Respond to inquiries, clarify expectations, monitor deadlines, and ensure students receive accurate and timely information needed to prepare for and successfully complete their programs. Provide guidance and support to international students and scholars regarding SEVIS compliance, visa requirements, and other immigration-related questions. Serve as a point of contact for faculty and staff regarding international program logistics, student mobility, and administrative matters. Communicate policies and procedures related to international travel, including university travel regulations, risk management, and program-specific guidelines, ensuring all participants are well-informed and prepared.

Provide comprehensive support to students, faculty, staff, and visitors by responding to inquiries, guiding individuals through office processes, institutional policies, and program requirements, and offering individualized assistance as needed. Ensure adherence to FERPA and other institutional privacy standards. Exercise sound judgment in addressing concerns, coordinating with internal offices when necessary, and following up appropriately. Maintain a professional, responsive, and stakeholder-centered approach while managing multiple cases and priorities simultaneously.
