JOB PURPOSE
You will support students’ academic, social, and emotional growth through personalized instruction, collaboration, and proactive intervention. Working closely with divisional leadership and the Academy Director, this role provides differentiated classroom instruction, implements accommodations, delivers targeted interventions, and partners with families and colleagues to help each student thrive within the learning environment.
ENGAGEMENT AND INTERACTION
- Maintain a differentiated classroom where a diverse range of learners can access grade-level curriculum through personalized support, appropriate scaffolds, and high expectations.
- Promote students’ academic, social-emotional, and overall developmental growth.
- Build strong partnerships with students, families, teachers, and outside professionals to support student progress.
- Adapt effectively to changing priorities and student needs within a dynamic school environment.
- Stay current with instructional practices that support differentiation, literacy growth, and student success.
- Contribute positively to school culture through collaboration, professionalism, and a team-oriented mindset.
LEARNING AND TEACHING
- Deliver high-quality whole class, small-group, and individualized instruction that meets a range of learners.
- Use evidence-based literacy practices to support reading, writing, language, and comprehension development.
- Provide targeted intervention for students with academic skill gaps, particularly in literacy and executive functioning.
- Interpret psychoeducational and neuropsychological evaluations and translate recommendations into effective classroom practice.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support student learning profiles and effective instructional strategies.
- Develop systems that strengthen organization, self-regulation, productivity, and executive functioning skills.
- Maintain a structured, supportive classroom environment using clear expectations, consistency, and multi-modal instruction.
PLANNING AND PREPARATION
- Plan lessons aligned to NBPS curriculum maps, standards, and academic priorities.
- Use student data, evaluations, and progress monitoring to inform planning.
- Build appropriate scaffolds, intervention supports, and enrichment opportunities into instruction.
- Provide multiple ways for students to engage with content and demonstrate understanding.
- Create an organized, supportive classroom environment that promotes independence, growth mindset, and mutual respect.
- Use technology and instructional resources purposefully to enhance learning.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues, families, and leadership to support student success.
- Maintain curriculum documentation, student portfolios, and divisional expectations as required.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS
- Certification and/or professional background in Exceptional Student Education (ESE), Elementary Education, Reading, Learning Disabilities, or related fields required
- Minimum of 3 years experience working in a school setting required
- Training and experience in structured literacy, reading intervention, Orton-Gillingham, Lindamood-Bell, EBLI, Wilson, or similar evidence-based reading approaches strongly preferred; candidates without formal certification must demonstrate substantial knowledge and experience in evidence-based literacy instruction
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret psychoeducational evaluations and use assessment data to inform instructional planning
- Commitment to building strong collaborative partnerships with students, families, and colleagues
- Excellent time management skills, flexibility, and ability to manage multiple responsibilities within a dynamic school environment
