Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Full-Time)
Pay Rate: $24.00 per hour

Job Summary
North American Trade Schools is seeking a reliable, hands-on Facilities Maintenance Technician to keep our campus safe, clean, and in good repair. This role handles a wide range of general handyman and building maintenance tasks throughout the school, including classrooms, offices, common areas, and restrooms. The ideal candidate is a versatile problem-solver comfortable working independently and responding to day-to-day maintenance needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform painting and spackling/drywall patching throughout the building, including touch-ups, wall repairs, and full-room painting as needed
- Complete general handyman repairs: doors, locks, hinges, cabinetry, furniture, flooring, ceiling tiles, and fixtures
- Clean, sanitize, and maintain restrooms, including minor plumbing fixes (unclogging drains, replacing fixtures, fixing running toilets)
- Perform routine inspections of the building and grounds to identify and address maintenance issues proactively
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders from staff and administration
- Perform light electrical work (replacing bulbs, switches, outlets) within scope of training and code
- Set up and break down furniture and equipment for classes, meetings, and school events
- Maintain a stock of maintenance supplies and tools; report inventory needs to supervisor
- Ensure hallways, entrances, and walkways are safe and clear (including basic snow/ice removal and debris cleanup)
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain compliance with OSHA and school safety standards
- Perform other general maintenance and custodial duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 years of experience in facilities maintenance, general repair, or a related handyman role
- Working knowledge of painting, drywall/spackling, basic plumbing, and basic electrical repairs
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and correctly
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Reliable, punctual, and able to manage multiple tasks throughout the day
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand/walk for extended periods, and climb ladders
- Comfortable working in and around a school environment with students and staff present
- Valid driver's license preferred
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Work is performed throughout the school building, including classrooms, offices, hallways, and restrooms, with occasional outdoor work on the grounds. The role requires regular standing, walking, bending, lifting, and climbing, as well as the use of ladders and hand/power tools.
Pay: $24.50 - $26.00 per hour
