Chimney Technician

Job Summary

We are looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Chimney Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for inspecting, cleaning, and repairing residential chimneys and fireplaces to ensure safety and code compliance. You will educate customers on chimney safety, perform maintenance, and uphold our company’s reputation for excellent service.

Primary Responsibilities

• Inspections: Perform comprehensive chimney inspections (Level 1 & 2) according to NFPA 211 standards.
• Cleaning: Safely sweep and clean chimneys, flues, and fireplaces to remove creosote and obstructions.
• Repairs & Maintenance: Perform masonry repairs, including tuckpointing, crown repair, and rebuilding.
• Installations: Install chimney caps, dampers, liners, and wood/pellet stoves, gas log sets and fireplaces.
• Customer Education: Advise customers on safety hazards, necessary repairs, and optimal chimney performance.
• Documentation: Use company technology (tablet/software) to document inspections, take photos, and create reports.
• Safety: Adhere to all OSHA safety regulations and company policies, including working at heights.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Physical Stamina: Ability to climb ladders, work on high roofs, and lift over 50 lbs.
• Technical Skills: Experience with hand/power tools, masonry, and basic construction.
• Customer Service: Strong communication skills to interact professionally with homeowners.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot chimney drafting or damage issues.
• Licensing: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Pay dependent upon experience

Education/Certification Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.

Environmental Conditions

• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, cold, wind).
• Comfortable working in tight spaces and at significant heights.
