Position Overview
The Director of Construction will oversee and manage all aspects of the company’s construction operations. This role requires a strategic leader with strong technical knowledge, proven project management expertise, and the ability to lead teams in delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget. The Director of Construction will collaborate closely with executive leadership, development teams, project managers, and field staff to drive operational excellence and ensure the highest standards of quality and efficiency across all construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop and implement construction strategies aligned with company goals.
· Provide leadership and direction to project managers, superintendents, and field staff.
· Oversee planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution of all construction projects.
· Ensure projects meet quality, safety, and regulatory compliance standards.
· Manage construction budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.
· Negotiate contracts with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to maximize value.
· Partner with development, design, and operations teams to align construction activities with project goals.
· Recruit, train, and mentor project managers, superintendents, and construction staff.
· Promote professional growth and succession planning within the construction division.
· Carry out any other functions required to complete the assigned duties and meet project timelines.
Qualifications
· 10 years of progressive construction management experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
· Proven track record in managing large-scale commercial, multifamily, or industrial projects.
· Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
· Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
· Deep understanding of construction methods, building codes, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
· Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Bluebeam, etc.).
