What are the responsibilities and job description for the Girls Basketball Assistant / JV Coach position at Norris Middle School?
Norris Middle School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Girl's Basketball Assistant Coach for the 2026–2027 school year. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the head coach to develop student-athletes both on and off the court while fostering a positive, competitive, and educational athletic environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist with planning and conducting practices and games.
- Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and character development.
- Help monitor student-athlete academic eligibility and behavior.
- Assist with supervision of athletes during practices, games, and team travel.
- Support the head coach in implementing the program's goals and expectations.
- Comply with all Anderson County Schools, TMSSAA/TSSAA, and school policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Previous coaching or playing experience in basketball is preferred.
- Ability to establish positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Must meet all district employment requirements and coaching certification requirements.
