Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Diesel Shop Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered vehicles and equipment, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and compliance with regulations. Work will primarily be performed in a shop setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in diesel engines and related systems.
- Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication.
- Repair and replace worn or defective parts (e.g., engines, transmissions, brakes, fuel systems, cooling systems).
- Use diagnostic tools and software to identify engine faults and performance issues.
- Maintain detailed records of repairs, inspections, and service reports.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and industry standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop and work areas.
- Operate equipment such as forklifts, hoists, and cranes when needed.
- Stay updated with new diesel technologies and service procedures.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational training preferred.
- 2 years of diesel mechanic experience (shop or field).
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read technical manuals and interpret wiring diagrams.
- Valid driver's license; CDL a plus.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in physically demanding conditions.
