Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and execute a wide range of recreational activities, events, and outings that promote socialization, mental stimulation, and physical well-being.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to incorporate therapeutic activities such as recreational therapy and dementia care strategies into daily routines.
- Assess residents’ interests, abilities, and needs to create personalized activity plans that support aging issues counseling and enhance overall wellness.
- Manage scheduling for activities ensuring consistent engagement while accommodating individual preferences and care requirements.
- Lead efforts to foster an inclusive community atmosphere by working with residents with disabilities or special needs in a respectful and empowering manner.
- Oversee volunteer involvement and coordinate community partnerships to expand activity offerings and resource availability.
- Maintain accurate records of participation, resident feedback, and program outcomes to continually improve enrichment initiatives.
Skills
- Proven experience in event planning within assisted living or nursing home settings with a focus on senior care.
- Strong background in long-term care environments.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage residents, families, staff, and community partners.
- Ability to assist residents with Activities of Daily Living such as mobility when needed during activities.
- Skilled in schedule management to ensure timely execution of programs without disrupting routine care schedules.
- Knowledge of recreational therapy techniques tailored for seniors with cognitive impairments or disabilities.
