Duties
- Perform thorough cleaning of patient rooms, corridors, restrooms, and common areas using appropriate cleaning agents and equipment.
- Handle laundry tasks including sorting, washing, drying, folding, and distributing linens and uniforms in accordance with safety protocols.
- Operate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, vacuums, steam cleaners, and scrubbers to ensure optimal sanitation.
- Follow strict chemical handling procedures to safely use disinfectants, cleaning agents, and other chemicals in compliance with OSHA standards.
- Adhere to safety protocols related to manual handling and heavy lifting to prevent injuries while moving furniture or bulky supplies.
- Maintain sanitation standards by performing regular floor care including stripping, waxing, buffing, and mopping floors in healthcare or institutional settings.
- Support infection prevention efforts by following healthcare-specific cleaning procedures and safety guidelines aligned with healthcare infection control practices.
- Ensure all cleaning supplies and chemicals are stored securely and used responsibly according to safety regulations.
- Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly to staff requests for cleaning or supply needs while maintaining a professional attitude.
- Document completed tasks accurately in logs or reports as required by facility policies.
Qualifications
- Prior janitorial or custodial experience in healthcare facilities or similar environments is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations related to chemical handling, safety procedures, and environmental services operations.
- Experience with healthcare infection prevention and control practices is a strong advantage.
- Ability to operate various cleaning equipment safely and effectively.
- Physical ability to perform manual handling tasks including lifting heavy objects safely and standing for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on sanitation standards and safety compliance.
- Excellent customer service skills with a positive attitude toward teamwork and communication.
- Basic understanding of floor care techniques such as waxing, buffing, and stripping floors is desirable.
