What are the responsibilities and job description for the Industrial Engineer position at Nord Gear Corporation?
· Evaluates and develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; designing, researching, modifying, and testing methods and equipment; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; and soliciting operator input.
· Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
· Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished-product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
· Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
· Partners with Maintenance to support equipment uptime and reliability; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service.
· Manages productivity and performance data through data mining, data modeling, data analysis, cost/benefit analysis, process mapping and problem analysis
· Act as a change agent in the organization by driving change and implementing continuous improvement processes, while utilizing and improving existing methodologies.
· Apply lean manufacturing principles and tools (e.g., value stream mapping, Kaizen, 5S, Gemba walks, root cause analysis) to identify and implement operational improvements in partnership with production and support functions.
· Support NORD’s North American satellite facilities through CI support, best-practice sharing, or layout/process input.
· Coordinate input for GAM (Global Assembly Management) meetings to share best practices globally and oversee operations scorecard completion.
· Responsible for Facility layout updates, documentation, and change coordination.
· Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
· Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
· On-time, within budget, completion of assigned projects
· Support of plant safety objectives and proactive safety engagement
· Support of quality, cost, productivity, and delivery performance targets.
· Responsible for any additional duties and tasks as directed by his or her supervisor.
