GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
Performs a wide variety of complex duties to troubleshoot, maintain and repair instrument/electrical company manufacturing equipment and ensure failure prevention. Calibrates instrumentation equipment to maintain operating limits.
Works closely with engineers to determine equipment fault characteristics and makes recommendations on improvements. Follows planned preventive maintenance procedures and guidelines. Recommends further repairs or remedial actions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Utilizes and applies standard and special purpose equipment to test, evaluate, and calibrate other instruments and equipment.
- Calibrates installs, inspects, tests, repairs, and rebuilds measuring and control devices in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications.
- Troubleshoots instruments and equipment for defects. Corrects defects and ensures parts for conformity with specifications. Performs root cause analysis, communicates recommendations, and implements solutions that prevent reoccurrence.
- Writes moderately complex technical reports and develops charts, graphs, and schematics to describe and illustrate systems and report characteristics, malfunctions, deviations from design specifications, and functional limitations.
- Makes recommendations for modifications to enhance equipment life or productivity.
- Works closely with engineers to determine equipment fault characteristics and makes recommendations or improvements.
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
- Operates electronic test equipment such as digital and analog multi-meters, oscilloscope, and analog and digital simulators.
- Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
- Effectively works from prints, P & ID’s and loop diagram to troubleshoot instrument system malfunctions and make the necessary repairs or corrections.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of motor control circuits, ranging from 110 to 480 VAC. Repair and troubleshoot interlocks, start–stop circuits, E-stops, relay logic circuits, sensors, solenoids, and proximity switches. Repairs electrical equipment as required.
- Utilizes the CMMS to document hours, parts/materials used and as found and as left condition which will be used to maintain cost efficient and evaluate adequate inventory levels of parts and chemicals, and equipment to operate systems.
- Researches, specifies and initiates purchase order for parts and equipment.
- Maintains calibration and work order records within designated Computer Maintenance Management System ensuring Critical to Quality, Operations, Safety and Environment equipment are completed within the required dates.
- Undertakes training as required to develop relevant skills and keep up to date with industrial standards; complete training programs as requested by supervision.
- Communicates with departments and individuals regarding problems that could impact production.
- Continuously improves calibration methods, systems, and equipment; as appropriate, update and revise existing SOPs and/or develop new SOPs under change control as required.

ADDITIONAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Carries out duties in compliance with all state and federal regulations and guidelines including FDA, EPA, OSHA, and DEA. Complies with all company and site policies and procedures and the intent of our Credo.
- Complies with established safety procedures, policies, and the intent to maintain a safe working environment.
- Assumes responsibility for the environmental effects of work performed and for the identification and recording of environmental problems as they arise.
- Follows all applicable aspects of the site Environmental Management System as it pertains to normal job duties.
- Maintains work areas and shop in neat and orderly condition.
- Participate in cross-functional teams as assigned to support: investigative teams, continuous improvement, or equipment installation / modification teams (e.g. PHAs, PSC, PSSRs, etc.).
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Is available for rotating shifts, weekends, or overtime work on a scheduled or emergency basis. Responds promptly to evening, night, or weekend call-ins on a weekly rotating basis.
- Successfully completes regulatory and job training requirements.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
May assume full or partial “acting” Supervisory duties as needed.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- AAS Degree or Equivalent Preferred. High school diploma and technical school training in an accredited electronics or instrumentation trade, mechanical apprenticeship; or six to eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Good interpersonal, communication and writing skills
- Knowledge of process measuring devices.
- Distributed Control System experience.
- Pharmaceutical / cGMP maintenance training and experience.
- Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and technical procedure manuals
- Respond to inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, and Noramco staff.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
- Solve practical problems with a variety of variables.
- Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS ABILITIES OR QUALIFICATIONS
- Journeyman’s Electrical License is a plus.
- Ability to work in situations where speed of work and sustained attention is critical.
- Ability to work under hazardous conditions including strenuous exertion and chemical handling.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, climb, or balance, talk or hear, and taste or smell
- Must be able to work at heights up to 90 feet.
- Must be able to qualify for respiratory protective equipment use.
- Good physical fitness with capacity for lifting, pushing, and pulling 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
