Opportunity:

RRT - Respiratory Therapist

Job Details:

• Night shift hours: 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM at St. Patrick facility and 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM at Lake Charles facility

• Will float between two facilities: Lake Charles and St. Patrick

• Every other weekend and holidays required

• No on-call responsibilities

• Patient ratio of 5:1 (5 vents per therapist)

• Gray scrubs required

• Must have adult ICU experience

• CRTs may be accepted but must have critical care experience

• Provide pulmonary care for critical, non-critical, and chronically ill adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients under physician direction with minimal supervision

• Perform patient assessments and institute respiratory care plans

• Perform various technical and diagnostic respiratory therapy procedures throughout the hospital

• Responsibilities include emergency code response, airway management, delivery of aerosolized drugs, ventilator management, oral hygiene, airway retaining device placement, BiPAP and CPAP device management, oxygen delivery, chest film analysis, blood gas collection and analysis, and EKG analysis

• Advanced practice skills may include therapeutic gas management, pulmonary function testing, bronchoscopy assist, hemodynamic monitoring, waveform analysis, nocturnal SpO2 evaluation, polysomnography, and transport duties

• RRTs may function as Shift Leader or Team Leader

• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by NBRC

• RT or RCP License in state of employment required

• 1-3 years of experience preferred
