Human Resources Manager (Contract)

A local non-profit organization has an immediate need for a hands-on HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about employee engagement, compliance, and organizational success. This position is a two month temporary role.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily Human Resources operations and team performance
  • Serve as the main point of contact for employee relations and HR support
  • Lead full-cycle recruitment: job postings, screening, interviews, and hiring
  • Oversee onboarding processes including background checks and offer letters
  • Facilitate new hire orientation
  • Supervise HR staff (coaching, training, performance management)
  • Administer employee benefits and ensure accurate enrollments
  • Ensure compliance with FMLA, ADA, LOA, and employment regulations
  • Handle workers’ compensation and unemployment claims
  • Maintain personnel records and ensure compliance with policies and laws
  • Support employee engagement, retention, and training initiatives
  • Prepare HR reports and analyze workforce data

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of Human Resources experience
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEOC, etc.)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of confidentiality and professionalism
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience with HRIS/ATS systems (ADP preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
