What are the responsibilities and job description for the Process Technician position at Nokian Tyres?
Responsibilities
- Participate in the installation and launching of new process equipment in cooperation with equipment suppliers and colleagues from Finland
- Analyze and evaluate production processes for their optimization, utilizing best practices wherever possible
- Analyze the existing mechanisms, systems and methods, and develop new ones
- Analyze and optimize the schedules of planned and corrective maintenance of equipment
- Analyze and develop ergonomic production workstations
- Submit proposals on the optimization of equipment start-up and operation schedules
- Compile necessary reports for the immediate supervisor
- Maintain all necessary records in the working documentation / enter data in computer-aided production control systems in accordance with the Company’s internal procedures
- Gather data for projects for Process Engineers and participate in improvement projects and programs
- Set up and fine tune recipes on all components lines
- Work with Quality Technicians to find root causes of issues and implement changes to process via change management process
- Work with the Continuous Improvement team to develop permanent fixes to systemic problems
- All other duties as required
Skills
- Ability to perform root cause analysis and apply statistics to problem solving
- Strong problem solving skills required using established methodologies including 8-D, 5-WHY, Ishikawa, etc.
- Knowledge of technological processes and production modes
- Knowledge of main process and design data of the manufactured products
- Knowledge of quality standards
- Ability to identify production defects and develop methods to prevent defects
- Time management and organization skills
- Attention to detail
- Strong computer skills including basic knowledge of computer-based manufacturing applications. Proficient with MS-Office application suite
- Proven technical skills
- Strong communication skills (both written and oral)
- Ability to work in a team environment

Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate Degree in technical field preferred, equivalent experience substitute
- 2 years minimum working experience in related field
- Experience with Lean Principles preferred
- Experience with Oracle preferred
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Nokian Tyres will not provide visa sponsorship

Work Environment
- This position is primarily based in an active manufacturing environment and requires routine presence on the production floor.
- Employees are regularly exposed to noise, vibration, moving machinery, powered industrial vehicles, and other industrial hazards.
- Temperatures may vary seasonally and may range from approximately 65–100°F depending on the area of the facility.
- Raw materials used in the manufacturing process may include oils, carbon black, rubber compounds, sulfur, and other additives. Employees may encounter industrial odors, airborne particulates, or dust consistent with manufacturing operations.
- Work may occasionally involve exposure to elevated work areas, energized equipment, and maintenance activities requiring adherence to safety procedures.
