Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Applications Services Manager to join our IT leadership team. A successful candidate will have a firm understanding of development methodologies and solutions, be forward-thinking, and be able to lead, assist, and collaborate with other team members in and outside of IT. Applying strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, this position guides an application development team. This role leverages best practices to ensure the successful implementation and ongoing support of enterprise IT applications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure the development team exceeds expectations in completing projects successfully, with time and accuracy in mind.
- Monitor system and application performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure optimal system operation.
- Optimize development processes and workflows to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Monitor team progress and performance while giving guidance and mentorship to the team.
- Develop and implement short and long-term strategies to ensure applications meet existing and future requirements.
- Work closely with our project management team and business stakeholders to ensure project success
- All other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Will be responsible for supervising a development team.
Education and Experience:
- A college diploma or university degree in the field of Computer Science.
- 6 years of enterprise software development experience with 2 years of leadership experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience supervising enterprise-level development teams.
- Strong foundation in industry development methodologies.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical language into business terms.
- Experience in various programming languages and platforms, including SQL, PHP, and RPG.
- Experience with modernizing legacy applications and systems.
- Creativity is key when it comes to integrating legacy applications with modern infrastructure.
- Familiarity with IBMi environments.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to work in a typical office setting where the employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Occasional travel required (< 10%)
