Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and safety-focused Equipment Operator to join our construction team. This position is responsible for operating heavy equipment to support site preparation, grading, trenching, material handling, and other construction activities on utility-scale projects. Candidates must be dependable, adaptable, and committed to maintaining a safe and productive work environment. (Wages vary by job site.)
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently in support of construction operations
- Perform grading, excavation, trenching, backfilling, and material movement activities
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections and report maintenance concerns
- Follow project specifications, site plans, and supervisor direction
- Maintain awareness of underground utilities and surrounding personnel/equipment
- Assist crews with general labor duties when equipment operation is not required
- Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA requirements
- Maintain clean and organized equipment and work areas
- Work effectively in changing outdoor environments and weather conditions
- Support project schedules through reliable attendance and teamwork
Equipment May Include
- Excavators
- Dozers
- Skid steers
- Loaders
- Motor graders
- Water trucks
- Other construction equipment as assigned
Qualifications
- Previous experience operating construction equipment preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment
- Basic understanding of construction site safety practices
- Ability to read and follow instructions and site directions
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel as needed
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and rotational schedules when required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and site conditions
- Ability to safely enter and exit heavy equipment multiple times per shift
Work Environment
This position operates primarily on active construction sites with exposure to moving equipment, dust, uneven terrain, noise, and changing weather conditions.
