Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our busy ophthalmic surgery center on a part-time/per diem basis, with the possibility of full time in the near future. The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical background and demonstrate exceptional patient care skills. The RN will play a key role in providing high-quality preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care to patients undergoing a variety of ophthalmic surgical procedures. This is an excellent opportunity for a nurse with ambulatory surgical experience looking for a flexible schedule in a fast-paced, team oriented environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide preoperative patient assessments, including health history reviews and patient education.
- Assist in intraoperative care, including circulating roles for ophthalmic procedures such as cataract surgery, LASIK, and oculoplastic surgeries.
- Monitor and support adult and pediatric patients in PACU, ensuring safe recovery and discharge.
- Administer medications and IV therapies as ordered by the surgeon or CRNA.
- Ensure compliance with infection control, sterile technique, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide compassionate patient and family education regarding postoperative care.
- Collaborate with surgeons, CRNA's, and other staff to ensure seamless patient care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Assist with inventory management and restocking of surgical supples as needed.
Requirements
- Valid California Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- BLS, ACLS required; PALS preferred.
- Experience in outpatient/ambulatory surgery center is preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of nursing experience; perioperative, PACU, or ophthalmology experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high level of attention to detail.
