What are the responsibilities and job description for the Middle School Counselor position at Noble Middle and High School?
Noble Middle and High School is looking for a collaborative, high-energy school counselor to join our team, supporting students in grades 7 & 8 within the larger 7th through 12th grade building.
School counselors provide academic and personal/social support to our students in their roles that include:
Academic -
New student registration and orientation
Coordinate and implement course registration
Creation/upkeep of the NMS master schedule
Maintain student schedules, including add/drop, student withdrawal
District Testing - planning, coordinating & proctoring
504 Plan Creation and Case Management
Attend weekly Building Assets Reducing Risks (BARR) & Response to Intervention (RTI) meetings
Attend IEPs
Individual student meetings each year - all students
Consult with families about academic concerns
Personal/Social -
Provide solution-focused individual and group counseling for issues impacting success at school
NMHS values trauma-informed practices
Collaboration with outside agencies that support our students in partnership with the school
Consult with families on supports available for students
Qualifications:
Hold, at minimum, a master’s degree in school counseling
Meet the state certification/licensure standards
Fulfill continuing education requirements
Uphold ASCA ethical and professional standards
Noble Middle & High School is located in North Berwick, Maine, and serves the communities of Berwick, North Berwick, and Lebanon. Noble is a 7-12 school with 1,275 students housed in two heterogeneously grouped academies made up of grade-level teams and houses.
