We are a growing dog training, boarding, and enrichment facility dedicated to helping dogs and their owners build strong, lasting relationships through effective, humane training methods. We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and passionate Training Manager to lead and grow our training department while maintaining the highest standards of care and professionalism.

Position Overview

The Training Manager will oversee all aspects of our training programs, including Board & Train programs, private lessons, group classes, staff development, client education, and program growth. This leadership role is ideal for a trainer who has a strong foundation in canine behavior, enjoys mentoring others, and is excited about building and expanding a successful training department.What We're Looking For

About the Opportunity

This is not a role where you'll be building a training department from the ground up. We have already established a successful and respected training program with a strong client base and proven services. We are looking for a Training Manager who can step into a leadership role, maintain the quality and reputation we've built, support continued growth, and identify opportunities to further strengthen and expand our training offerings while preserving the values and standards that have made the program successful.

Qualifications

  • Professional dog training experience required
  • Strong knowledge of canine behavior and learning theory
  • Degree in Animal Behavior, Psychology, Veterinary Technology, Animal Science, or related field preferred but not required
  • Experience working with behavioral modification cases preferred
  • Excellent communication and client service skills
  • Strong organizational and leadership abilities
  • Reliable transportation required
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities

Training Philosophy

We are looking for a trainer who believes in creating lasting results through relationship-based training. Candidates should be comfortable using balanced training principles while avoiding the use of:

  • Choke chains
  • Harsh aversive training methods

ResponsibilitiesTraining Program Management

  • Oversee all training services, including Board & Train, Day Training, Private Lessons, and Group Classes
  • Ensure training programs are structured, effective, and consistently delivered
  • Evaluate, update, and rebuild training curriculum when needed
  • Develop new training offerings and educational opportunities

Staff Development

  • Train and mentor kennel technicians and support staff
  • Ensure consistency in handling, enrichment, and training practices throughout the facility
  • Conduct ongoing staff education and coaching

Business Development

  • Grow and expand the training department
  • Build relationships with clients and the local community
  • Assist with marketing initiatives and educational content
  • Increase enrollment in training services and classes

Client Services

  • Conduct private training sessions
  • Lead group classes
  • Communicate training plans and progress with pet owners
  • Provide behavior consultations and recommendations

Administrative Duties

  • Manage trainer schedules and training calendars
  • Maintain accurate records and training notes
  • Track program performance and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Coordinate training activities with boarding and daycare operations

Compensation

Compensation will be based on experience, certifications, education, and demonstrated training ability.

Duties

  • Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive dog training programs tailored to individual needs and behavioral goals
  • Lead daily training sessions, ensuring positive reinforcement techniques are consistently applied
  • Manage a team of trainers and assistants, providing coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback
  • Handle dog handling and animal restraint with confidence to ensure safety during training and care activities
  • Maintain detailed records of training progress, behavioral assessments, and client interactions
  • Assist with pet grooming, pet sitting, and general animal care duties as needed to support overall facility operations
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols related to animal handling, veterinary procedures, and heavy lifting requirements

Requirements

  • Proven experience in dog training with a strong understanding of canine behavior modification techniques
  • Veterinary experience or background as a veterinary technician or assistant is highly desirable
  • Extensive animal handling skills including restraint, pet care, and kennel management
  • Knowledge of veterinary procedures related to animal health and wellness
  • Ability to lift heavy objects safely as part of daily duties involving animal supplies or equipment
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with pet owners and team members
  • Prior experience with pet grooming, pet sitting, or animal care services is a plus

Pay: $45,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
