What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wix Website Designer Intern position at No Barriers Education Inc.?
Location: Remote
Commitment: 4–8 hours per week
No Barriers Education empowers underserved students to access the financial, academic, and mentorship resources they need to attend college. We’re building a platform that connects students to free programs and other support opportunities, helping eliminate financial and informational barriers to higher education.
As a Website Designer Intern for an early-stage non-profit, you’ll play a core role in shaping how students discover and navigate resources. This role focuses on designing and improving our website using Wix, with a strong emphasis on creating clear, welcoming, and easy-to-navigate resource pages for underserved students, including first-generation students, low-income students, student parents, undocumented students, working students, and more.
You will help organize how students find mentorship, scholarships, financial aid, and college application support. Your work will directly impact how students experience the college application process by turning an overwhelming system into something clear, supportive, and accessible.
We are looking for candidates who are not only comfortable working with Wix, but who are also deeply passionate about helping students discover these opportunities.
- Design, build, and improve website pages using Wix, with a focus on clarity, accessibility, and student-centered design.
- Create new resource pages organized by student situations (e.g., first-generation, low-income, student parents, undocumented students, working students, students experiencing housing insecurity, etc.).
- Develop intuitive navigation and layouts that make it easy for students to find scholarships, mentorship programs, financial aid resources, and application guidance.
- Translate complex information into simple, supportive, and student-friendly web content through thoughtful design and organization.
- Collaborate with leadership and outreach teams to ensure website structure reflects real student needs and priorities.
- Continuously refine the website experience based on feedback, accessibility best practices, and equity-focused design principles.
- Contribute ideas for new website features, tools, and content sections that improve student engagement and long-term impact.
This role is ideal for someone who:
- Has experience working with Wix (or similar website builders)
- Is interested in UX/UI design, web design, or product design
- Is passionate about education access, social impact, and equity
- Cares deeply about helping first-generation, low-income, and underserved students find life-changing opportunities
