Position Summary:
The Senior Payroll & Benefits Administrator is responsible for overseeing bi-weekly payroll processing, managing employee timecards, and administering comprehensive benefits programs across all Michigan locations. This role ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, supports strategic HR initiatives, and serves as a key resource for payroll and benefits-related matters. The administrator collaborates with employees, managers, and external vendors to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and confidentiality in all transactions.

Payroll Administration
Lead and manage the bi-weekly payroll process for multiple Michigan locations
Audit and approve employee timecards and resolve discrepancies with supervisors
Oversee payroll system updates and ensure accurate data entry and reporting
Process schedule changes, payroll deductions, and special pay requests
Prepare and review payroll journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
Coordinate bonus payouts and annual vacation checks
Respond to wage verification requests and unemployment claims
Maintain compliance with payroll-related laws and internal policies
Generate and analyze labor hour reports for operational insights
Timecard Management
Administer and maintain electronic timekeeping systems
Train managers and employees on timecard procedures and policies
Monitor attendance trends and escalate issues to HR leadership
Ensure timely approval and submission of timecards for payroll processing
Benefit Administration
Manage benefit enrollment, changes, and terminations
Serve as primary contact for benefit vendors and brokers
Coordinate open enrollment and employee communications
Administer COBRA, FMLA, and other leave programs
Ensure accurate benefit deductions and payroll integration
Maintain compliance with ACA, HIPAA, and other benefit regulations
Analyze benefit utilization and recommend improvements
Compliance & Systems
Ensure adherence to the Quality Management System (QMS) and Environmental Management System (EMS)
Maintain confidentiality and data integrity across all HR systems
Support audits and reporting requirements for payroll and benefits
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, or related field preferred
- Payroll or benefits certification (e.g., FPC, CPP, CEBS) is a plus
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in payroll and benefits administration
- Strong knowledge of payroll systems (i.e. ADP), timekeeping platforms, and HRIS
- Experience with multi-location payroll processing and benefit coordination
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data analysis
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
