Job Description
The Assistant General Manager of Environmental Services directs a wide variety of janitorial services required in a client servicing operation and assigns subordinates in such activities. Evening, holiday, and weekend hours are required.
Responsibilities
Level One: An individual is ineligible to work in any position that has Regular Contact With or Control over Children, Dependent Adults or Vulnerable Persons if the individual has been convicted of:
Weather: Occasional exposure to harsh weather conditions; requires work be done both inside and outside.
Noise level: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Office Conditions
Description of environment: Hospital setting. Pace of work is medium and high volume of customer interaction.
Physical requirements: Employee is required to frequently lift up to 50 lbs. This position is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.
Travel: This position requires travel up to 25% of the time. Employee may travel to other client units in town.

Responsibilities
- Direct, schedule, supervise, and motivate assigned EVS/custodial staff to ensure all tasks and quality standards are consistently met.
- Manage administrative HR responsibilities, including approving payroll, supporting hiring, evaluating performance, and assuming departmental leadership in the absence of the General Manager.
- Establish work procedures and quality standards for the team.
- Conduct regular training sessions for both new and existing staff, ensuring they are well-versed in procedures, equipment use, and quality expectations.
- Conduct regular facility inspections and prepare daily inspection reports to maintain the highest quality of service.
- Maintain strong, proactive communication with hospital staff and clients.
- Track, control, and order supply inventories, managing related billings and payables.
- Oversee the operation, care, and maintenance of all custodial equipment and vehicles.
- Conduct safety meetings and ensure all daily operations strictly follow company safety requirements.
- Identify, resolve, and report site safety hazards.
- Maintain working knowledge of industrial cleaning products, chemicals, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Complete required accounting, safety, and administrative record-keeping.
- Actively perform and supervise hands-on custodial tasks (e.g., trash/recycling removal, event setup/teardown) and step in to cover staff duties when circumstances require.
- Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum two (2) years directly related EVS experience or similar.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in supervisory or managerial role.
- Basic skillset in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- A valid drivers license and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS’ vehicle insurance policy.
- Ability to read, write and speak English.
- Candidates will be screened for tuberculosis exposure and infection as shown by a negative PPD, negative IGRA, or in cases where the PPD or IGRA is positive, a baseline chest x-ray, is required; and
- Candidates must be immune/vaccinated for Hepatitis B or has a signed declination for Hepatitis B, and either is immune from or has been immunized against:
- (i) influenza (annually and proof of vaccination or signed declination on file)
- (ii) rubella,
- (iii) rubeolla,
- (iv) mumps,
- (v) varicella chicken pox

- One or more felonies and/or two or more misdemeanors of Crimes Against Persons and/or Crimes of Violence.
- Any Crime against a Child, Dependent Adult or Vulnerable person, regardless of its classification as a felony, misdemeanor, or other type of offense.
- Any Sex Crime, regardless of its classification as a felony, misdemeanor, or other type of offense.
- Murder
