Nimel Mental Health a growing Outpatient mental health clinic in Greenbelt MD, is seeking a Medical Office Administrative Assistant. The Front Desk Receptionist/Office Assistant handles the administrative tasks in a healthcare setting, ensuring smooth daily operations and excellent patient service. Their responsibilities include scheduling appointments, managing patient records, handling phone calls, processing insurance and billing, and maintaining a well-organized office environment. They also interact with patients, addressing inquiries, and providing support throughout their visit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greeting and checking in patients, answering phones, scheduling appointments, and providing information.
- Maintaining patient records, both physical and electronic, updating information, and ensuring accuracy.
- Processing insurance claims, handling patient payments, and assisting with billing inquiries.
- Managing supplies, maintaining a tidy and organized workspace, and assisting with general administrative tasks.
- Collecting Co-pays and Deductibles: Receive payments from patients at the time of service, which improves cash flow.
- Handling Patient Balances: Collecting any outstanding balances and assisting with payment arrangements.
- Processing Payments: Handling various payment methods like cash, checks, credit cards, and electronic transactions.
- Communicating effectively with patients, medical staff, and other stakeholders.
- Assist with quality improvement programs, quality measurement and improvement activities, identifying areas for improvement, and developing plans to address them.
- Collect, analyze, and report data on patient care, workflow, and business operations to identify trends and patterns that can be used to improve quality.
Required Skills
- Strong Customer Service: Excellent phone etiquette, patience, & active listening skills.
- Medical Terminology: Understanding medical terms and procedures.

Required Qualifications:
- AA degree preferred.
- Experience working at a medical office or mental health practice is required.
- Knowledge of billing and coding.
- Bilingual language (Spanish speaking) is a plus, not a requirement
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and customer service
- Previous administrative experience in medical office required
- Professionalism with track record of delivering exceptional patient care service
- Experience working in HIPAA-compliant health care delivery systems
- Experience working with Electronic Health Records systems (Will train if needed).
- Exceptional attention to detail
Job Type: Full time; Tuesday - Friday 10:00am - 6:30pm; Saturday 9:00am - 5:30pm
Salary: $20 /$23 hour, Negotiable based on experience.
