Junior Accountant
NJDWSC has an immediate opening at our offices in Wanaque, NJ, for a Junior Accountant. As a member of our team, you will contribute to the continued reliable delivery of the highest-quality potable water to the over 3.5 million residents of Northern New Jersey.
General Purpose
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a solid, successful work history, and proficiency in providing vital support to the CFO and their team.
Position and Responsibilities
GENERAL DUTIES:
· Assists the Finance Department with all financial operations of the Commission.
· Oversee bank reconciliations and balance financial records.
· Assist in the monthly preparation of financial statement and reports.
· Makes journal entries.
· Assist with the month-end and year-end closing process.
· Identify and resolve financial discrepancies
· Uses popular financial software.
· Collaborates with other members of the Finance team.
· Follows all company policies and procedures.
· Adheres to finance laws and regulations.
PAYROLL DUTIES:
· Processes bi-weekly payroll via interactions with outside payroll company.
· PERS and DCRP Pension Deductions processing
· PERS Loan processing
· Annual Union Stipend disbursement
· FSA Annual Renewal
· Process all annual and intermittent pay Increases
· Garnishment/Child Support administration
· Annual Audit Support for payroll department.
· Outside Wage Verifications throughout the year, as requested.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in accounting, business, finance, math, or a related field.
· Strong computer skills. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel, including Vlookups and pivot tables.
· Familiarity with Edmunds accounting software a plus
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as critical thinking and mathematical reasoning skills.
· Ability to prioritize tasks.
· Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
· Perform accurate work to the highest standards of accountancy
· Driven, self-motivated, and goal-oriented
· Superior verbal communication skills
Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
