Position SummaryThe Construction Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day on-site supervision, coordination, and execution of construction activities to ensure that projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with all contract documents, codes, and regulatory requirements. This role serves as the primary field authority and is accountable for workforce coordination, subcontractor performance, quality control, safety enforcement, inspections, and daily reporting.The Superintendent acts as the owner’s representative in the field, enforcing project standards, maintaining productivity, and protecting the company’s contractual, financial, and reputational interests.Core Responsibilities1. Site Leadership & Field OperationsMaintain full-time on-site presence during active construction.Direct and coordinate all field labor, subcontractors, suppliers, and inspectors.Enforce scope alignment with drawings, specifications, approved submittals, and RFIs.Plan and execute daily, weekly, and phase-specific work sequences.Resolve field conflicts, constructability issues, and schedule constraints proactively.2. Schedule ManagementImplement and maintain the project CPM schedule in coordination with the Project Manager.Develop and manage 2-week and 3-week look-ahead schedules.Track manpower loading, productivity rates, and trade stacking.Identify schedule risks early and propose mitigation strategies.Coordinate inspections and authority sign-offs to prevent delays.3. Safety & Risk ManagementEnforce OSHA, state, and municipal safety regulations at all times.Lead daily Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) and toolbox talks.Ensure proper use of PPE, trench protection, fall protection, confined space protocols, and equipment safety.Maintain site safety logs, incident reports, and corrective actions.Possess authority to stop work immediately for unsafe conditions.4. Quality Control & InspectionsExecute and document quality control inspections for each trade and phase.Verify compliance with contract documents prior to concealment.Maintain punch lists and oversee corrective work.Coordinate and attend municipal, third-party, and owner inspections.Confirm all work passes inspection prior to progression.5. Subcontractor & Vendor ManagementConduct subcontractor onboarding and site orientations.Verify insurance compliance, manpower adequacy, and licensing.Enforce subcontract agreements, schedules, and scope responsibilities.Coordinate material deliveries, staging, storage, and protection.Document and escalate performance issues when necessary.6.
