Quality Control Inspector – Precast Concrete
Nitterhouse Concrete Products (Chambersburg, PA)
Nitterhouse Concrete Products is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Inspector to support our precast concrete operations with a strong focus on pre-pour inspections and quality assurance in a fast-paced production environment.
This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in accuracy, enjoys working in a manufacturing setting, and wants to build long-term technical skills in concrete production and quality control.
Training will be provided for the right candidate.
What You’ll Do
You will play a key role in ensuring that forms and materials are ready before concrete is poured, helping prevent defects and ensuring high-quality finished products.
Pre-Pour Quality Control
- Perform detailed pre-pour inspections of forms and assemblies
- Verify formwork is properly built, clean, and dimensionally accurate
- Confirm correct placement of reinforcement steel; embedded items and hardware; blockouts, inserts, and lifting devices
- Ensure forms are properly prepared, oiled, and sealed to prevent defects
- Review shop drawings to confirm work matches specifications
Testing & Quality Checks
- Perform routine fresh concrete testing, including slump / flow, air content, temperature, unit weight, compression test cylinder preparation
- Perform post-pour inspections as needed
Documentation & Support
- Maintain accurate quality control and casting records
- Use basic Excel and Word for recordkeeping (training available if needed)
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of testing area and equipment
- Support general QC and plant needs as assigned
What We’re Looking For
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to doing things right the first time
- Ability to read or learn to read shop drawings and technical specifications
- Basic math and measurement skills
- Clear communication skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
- Willingness to work overtime when production requires it
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn a skilled trade
Preferred (but not required):
- Experience in concrete testing or precast manufacturing
- ACI certification or related industry training
- Basic computer skills (Excel / Word)
Schedule
- Monday–Friday
- 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- Occasional overtime based on production needs
