What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Clerk II position at Nisqually Indian Tribe?
NATURE OF WORK: This position is responsible for assisting with basic accounting functions such as recording of expenditures, deficits, transactions, and receipts, and performing routine calculating and posting functions under direct supervision.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with accounts payable and other routine accounting processes.
- Assist with the collection, verification, recording, processing and storage of accounting
- Manage the file room.
- Monitor AP email address.
- Compose basic emails and process mailings.
- Distribute mail for Finance Department.
- Assist outside auditors by providing supporting materials or documentation.
- Prepare daily check batches, mail and pick-up lists.
- Reconcile vendor statements.
- Assist with contacting vendors for outstanding/unpaid invoices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of bookkeeping practices, basic accounting principles, and office procedures.
- Skill in the operation of a personal computer and standard office programs and equipment.
- Skill in accurate and efficient data entry processing.
- Ability to operate ten-key calculator by touch.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and technical terminology.
- Ability to work successfully as part of a team and to establish and maintain effective relationships with a variety of government employees and officials, and the general public.
- Ability to maintain and practice strict confidentiality regarding financial information, records, and other matters at all times.
- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
- One year accounting support or bookkeeping experience OR an equivalent combination of appropriate experience and/or post-secondary education.
- Must be able to pass a criminal history and financial background check.
- Must have a valid Washington State driver's license and be insurable under the Nisqually Indian Tribe`s insurance policy.
