This position has regular contact with or control over Indian Children and Vulnerable Adults. In compliance with Federal Law, this position will not be filled by an applicant with any felonious offense or any of two or more misdemeanor offenses under Federal, State, or Tribal law involving crimes of violence; sexual assault, molestation, exploitation, contact, or prostitution; crimes against persons; or offenses committed against children.
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Nursing Director is responsible for the development of nursing policies, quality improvement efforts, the coordination of staffing and professional development for the nursing and support staff of the Nisqually Tribal Health Department. Duties include, but are not limited to managing the clinical nurses who are responsible for the day-to-day functions of the nursing and clinical support staff by: facilitating and managing problem solving; staffing; designing and implementing professional development plans/programs; project management of strategic goals and objectives, leading the practice transformation for patient centered medical home and standardizing the practice and be a leader in the development and implementation of the medical home model infrastructure; and taking the leadership role for the Infection Control Plan as well as chairing the Infection Control Committee.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibilities are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform. - Provide nursing care for eligible patients in multiple settings on an as-needed basis.
- Provide medical case management, health services, and
- Supervise staff following standards of care, patient safety, and quality
- Lead process improvement for clinic resulting in increased patient access, increased patient and staff satisfaction, and improve the timeliness and quality of care
- Support Quality Assurance performance improvement work and initiatives; utilize quality improvement principles such as value stream mapping, root cause analysis, just-in-time production and PDSA
- Facilitate improvement within healthcare system through use of coaching and rapid improvement events and daily improvement methodologies; foster culture of continuous improvement by coaching staff in improvement
- Lead development of clinical pathways/standards and standing orders for clinic patient
- Assistant in grants and reports as requested; provide reports, data, and information as
- Remain knowledgeable of current trends in care, management process and quality improvement, medications and other aspects of health care.
- Ensure protestation of the privacy and security of protected health information as required by tribal, state and federal
- Participate in budget development, projections of revenue and expenditures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution AND 5 years recent experience in nursing practice OR a Master's Degree in nursing with a minimum of 3 years of high-level nursing supervision experience. A comparable combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Nurse Management or Director level experience preferred
- Current Washington State registered nursing license without Must keep license current at all times.
- Current valid driver's license and be insurable under the Tribe's insurance policy.
- BLS - CPR/First Aid/AED certification within 3 months of hire
- Tribal or public health experience
