Job Title: Product Owner Location: Columbus, Ohio Hybrid Schedule: Tuesday-Thursday in office Job Description The Product Owner is responsible for defining and delivering a product vision and roadmap aligned with overall business strategy. This role partners closely with stakeholders, leadership, and Agile delivery teams to translate business needs and user feedback into valuable product outcomes. The Product Owner owns the product from concept through delivery and ongoing performance, ensuring alignment across teams, resolving dependencies, and driving measurable business results. *This role will compliment the other Product Owner on the team and is an addition to the department Essential Functions Define and communicate a clear, ambitious product vision aligned with business strategy Own the product offering from business requirements through delivery of business value Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to ensure product direction aligns with strategic goals Translate customer, market, and industry insights into user stories and acceptance criteria Own, refine, prioritize, and manage the product backlog and release plans Facilitate release planning and Agile ceremonies in partnership with stakeholders and delivery teams Make timely decisions to remove obstacles and prevent delivery impediments Establish and communicate product KPIs once solutions are in production and report progress to stakeholders Inspect product progress throughout development and adapt requirements as needed Personally engage business partners and customers to validate product viability and usefulness Integrate usability studies and research into product requirements to drive customer centric design Manage expectations related to product implementation and organizational change Work closely with leadership to define business value, messaging, and customer communication Build strong partnerships across teams to identify, manage, and resolve dependencies Maintain transparency through regular communication and early escalation of risks or impediments Work onsite with Agile teams, promoting collaboration, accountability, and psychological safety Foster a culture of trust, transparency, learning, and continuous improvement Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience 7 years of overall professional experience Demonstrated experience facilitating Agile events, managing product backlogs and release plans, user story mapping, and tracking metrics Experience gaining alignment with multiple Product Owners and resolving cross team dependencies Strong leadership skills with ability to build stakeholder alignment and drive consensus Ability to make informed decisions, including when and how to say “no” Deep understanding of product development practices and continuous improvement Basic understanding of IT solutions and Agile development approaches Strong business acumen, including the ability to build business cases and articulate financial impact Ability to operate effectively at strategic, tactical, and operational levels Strong communicator, comfortable engaging with business stakeholders and delivery teams Collaborative mindset with experience working across technology, design, and business functions Strong problem solving skills and ability to guide teams through solution evolution Entrepreneurial and experimental mindset with passion for innovation and challenging the status quo Adaptable to change with a willingness to step outside comfort zones and inspire teams to do the same Commitment to nonhierarchical collaboration, transparency, trust, and open communication Demonstrated focus on delighting business partners and customers Preferred Qualifications Experience in the utility industry Supply chain experience is a plus Experience leading organizational or change initiatives As a public utility, NiSource is required to provide continuous service to customers at all times.
