Role Summary
The Supply Chain Specialist plays a key role in managing the flow of materials and products from suppliers to customers, ensuring that Nisbet Brower’s operations run efficiently and cost-effectively. This position is responsible for inventory planning, procurement coordination, vendor management, and logistics support to ensure materials are available on time to meet project schedules and customer expectations.
Responsibilities include:
- Inventory & Procurement Management
- Monitor inventory levels to maintain optimal stock and prevent shortages or excess.
- Forecast material needs based on project schedules, historical data, and seasonal demand.
- Issue and track purchase orders to vendors and suppliers.
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure on-time deliveries and resolve discrepancies or delays.
- Vendor & Supplier Relations
- Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers in the construction supply industry.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules to optimize cost and reliability.
- Evaluate vendor performance and support sourcing of new suppliers when needed.
- Logistics & Operations Coordination
- Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments with warehouse and transportation teams.
- Assist in scheduling deliveries to job sites in alignment with project timelines.
- Work cross-functionally with sales, operations, and customer service to align supply chain activities with business goals.
- Data & Process Management
- Maintain accurate records of inventory transactions, purchase orders, and delivery schedules in the ERP system.
- Analyze data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in supply chain and warehouse processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience in Truss & Panel design operations a plus.
- Familiarity with roof trusses, floor trusses, and wall panel design and manufacturing processes a plus.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of lumber grading and other building materials.
- Strong understanding of margin analysis and financial metrics in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in truss design software (e.g., MiTek, Alpine, or similar).
- Excellent organizational and scheduling skills, with a focus on meeting deadlines.
- Experience with capacity planning in a manufacturing or production environment.
