Position description
The Court Operations Manager – Family Court position is responsible for the organization, development, and implementation of Family Court services and programs in Orange County. This position reports to the Director of Case Management and oversees the performance of Family Court programs and services to ensure compliance with applicable statutes, laws, and established court policies and procedures. The successful candidate must be able to evaluate processes and analyze data to develop and implement new or improved workflows across a variety of Family Court programs. The role also requires the ability to research family law-related matters, including gathering, compiling, and analyzing data to assess the effectiveness of court operations.
The selected candidate will develop program and position descriptions, forms, instructional materials, videos, brochures, operations manuals, training guides, and other resources to support both staff and the public. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with the Judiciary, Court Administration, the Clerk of Court, and other justice partners. The position also provides oversight of court support staff and performs personnel management functions, including assigning and reviewing work, conducting performance evaluations, and coordinating training opportunities.
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in fields such as public or business administration, social work, criminology, or law, with at least five years of relevant professional experience, three of which must have been in a supervisory or managerial capacity overseeing a department with a large team. Relevant professional experience may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis. Higher academic credentials such as a master’s or Juris Doctor may substitute for designated years of non-management experience.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, collaboration, communication, and analytical abilities; excel in problem-solving, decision-making, and team development; proficiency with Excel or similar tools for data analysis and show commitment to public service innovation and continuous improvement in court operations.
