A Steady Presence for Students Each Day

At Lakeside Middle School, a Special Education Paraprofessional is part of the flow of each day. You work alongside a teacher, supporting students who need a bit more guidance to stay engaged and move through their classes. The needs shift depending on the student and the moment. Sometimes you’re helping with schoolwork. Other times you’re steadying a situation before it grows. The work is close to students and grounded in relationships. They learn who you are and begin to count on you being there.

You might sit beside a student to help them get started, notice when something feels off, or step in quietly so they can stay in the room and keep going. Progress does not always come quickly, but it shows up in small ways that matter. You are trusted to read those moments and respond in a way that keeps students connected to their learning and to the people around them. You’re not expected to figure it out alone. The team works together, and there is space to learn as you go.
