Position Overview:


The Senior Systems Engineer (Level 3) supports the E‑ICAM SETA contract by providing advanced systems engineering expertise across the design, development, integration, testing, and sustainment of complex software‑intensive and data‑driven systems. This role performs senior‑level technical analysis and systems engineering support to ensure system solutions meet mission requirements, comply with established standards, and operate effectively within complex operational environments. The Senior Systems Engineer collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, including software developers, hardware engineers, cybersecurity professionals, and program stakeholders, to analyze user needs, evaluate system capabilities, resolve technical issues, and support the successful execution of system life‑cycle activities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform senior‑level systems engineering activities in support of the design, development, integration, testing, and sustainment of software and system solutions. 
  • Design, develop, document, test, and debug applications, software, and systems that incorporate logical, mathematical, and analytical solutions. 
  •  Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers, hardware engineers, and software developers in the planning and utilization of electronic data processing systems. 
  • Analyze and translate user needs and mission requirements into system, software, and interface specifications. 
  • Evaluate system capabilities to resolve issues related to: 
    • Program intent
    • Output requirements
    • Input data acquisition
    • Programming techniques
    • System controls
  • Support the development and documentation of: 
    • System requirements 
    • Functional and technical specifications
    • Interface control documents
    • Operating instructions and procedures
  • Design, develop, or support system software components, including compilers, assemblers, utility programs, and operating system interfaces, as applicable. 
  • Support system integration and testing activities to verify performance, functionality, and compliance with requirements. 
  • Ensure software and systems engineering standards are met throughout the system life cycle. 
  • Identify technical risks and provide recommendations to mitigate issues related to performance, integration, and compliance. 
  • Provide technical support to program management and stakeholders through briefings, documentation, and subject‑matter expertise.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience performing systems engineering activities for software‑intensive or integrated systems.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, analyzing, and supporting complex systems and applications.
  • Strong understanding of: 
    • Systems engineering principles
    • Software development life‑cycle methodologies
    • Requirements analysis and traceability
    • System integration and testing
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary technical teams.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical problems and develop effective solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting federal IT, data, or mission‑critical systems in a SETA or advisory capacity.
  • Familiarity with system architecture frameworks, modeling tools, or technical standards.
  • Experience supporting requirements management, systems integration, or testing activities in complex environments.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting multiple concurrent technical efforts.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of the job, the incumbent will be exposed to normal demands associated with an office environment. Ability to work on a computer for long periods, and communicate with individuals by telephone, email, and face to face. This position requires the incumbent to have the ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.

 

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually light to medium.

Salary : $155,000 - $160,000
