Overview
The Sanitation Lead plays a critical role in ensuring efficient, safe, and consistent cleaning and sanitation of the Nightingale Ice Cream facility during and after production hours. This position oversees the nightly sanitation operation, supports and leads sanitation technicians in assigned cleaning and sanitation tasks, ensures adherence to established sanitation schedules and SSOPs, and promotes compliance with personnel safety, GMP, and food safety requirements. The Sanitation Lead communicates sanitation status, concerns, and corrective actions to the FSQA Manager and helps support a clean and orderly environment for continued operations and next-shift readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Sanitation & Team Leadership
· Lead assigned sanitation tasks and ensure sanitation technicians are present, prepared, and in full PPE at the designated start time.
· Provide training to sanitation technicians on safety requirements, sanitation procedures, PPE use, and proper chemical handling.
· Provide clear direction, coaching, and support to sanitation technicians to maintain a productive and positive work environment.
· Monitor staffing levels and communicate any shortages, attendance concerns, or performance issues to the FSQA Manager.
Sanitation Schedule Management
· Ensure sanitation technicians maintain the required pace to meet established sanitation schedules and support after-hours production needs.
· Identify and address any sanitation challenges or bottlenecks that may affect sanitation completion, production flow, or next-shift readiness.
· Ensure assigned cleaning tasks are completed properly and on time in accordance with sanitation procedures and operational needs.
· Communicate any equipment or areas requiring deeper cleaning, maintenance, or follow-up sanitation to the FSQA Manager.
Sanitation Checks
· Assess sanitation supply and chemical inventory and communicate replenishment needs to the FSQA Manager.
· Document deviations, sanitation concerns, and corrective actions accurately and in a timely manner.
· Perform verification checks of cleaning and sanitation effectiveness on equipment exteriors, utensils, production areas, and other assigned surfaces.
· Support corrective actions related to sanitation findings or environmental monitoring results, as directed by FSQA.
Safety & Compliance
· Enforce all PPE, GMP, personnel safety, and food safety requirements.
· Ensure sanitation chemicals are used, labeled, stored, and handled properly in accordance with company procedures and safety requirements.
· Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in compliance with sanitation and safety guidelines.
· Report safety concerns, incidents, equipment damage, or sanitation issues promptly.
· Escalate any condition that may impact employee safety, food safety, sanitation effectiveness, or production readiness.
Additional Expectations
· Communicate sanitation status and unresolved issues clearly to the FSQA Manager.
· Support continuous improvement efforts related to sanitation efficiency, consistency, and compliance.
· Help maintain a clean and orderly production environment during extended or after-hours operations.
Pay: $21.00 per hour
