What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Development Manager position at Nigel Frank International?
Business Development Manager
Remote (U.S.) •Full-Time Benefits • $350,000 OTE
About the Role
My client is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive new market growth in the specialty trade construction sector. This is a true hunter and closer role — you will own complex enterprise sales from first contact through signed contract, working independently within an established team of seasoned professionals.
This is not an SDR role. This is not an account management role. They are looking for someone who creates pipeline from scratch, builds momentum in new markets, and has the discipline and drive to see complex deals through to close. If you thrive on the thrill of winning new business and have deep roots in the construction industry, we want to talk.
What You'll Do
- Own the full sales cycle from prospecting and discovery through negotiation and close — cradle to grave
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the specialty trade construction market
- Build and leverage your existing network across HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, industrial, and infrastructure sectors
- Develop territory and market strategies to break into new accounts and create new revenue streams
- Engage with C-suite and executive-level decision makers to position our solutions at the highest levels
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop tailored proposals, presentations, and solution packages
- Accurately forecast pipeline and manage opportunities in CRM throughout the full sales cycle
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities
- Provide market intelligence and feedback to leadership on competitor activity, trends, and client needs
What You Bring
- 5 years of enterprise software sales or executive-level consulting experience within the construction market
- Deep, working knowledge of specialty trade contractor operations, workflows, and business challenges
- An established and active network within HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, industrial, or infrastructure sectors
- Proven track record of closing complex, multi-stakeholder enterprise deals — not just sourcing leads
- Hunter mentality — you are energized by building new markets, not managing existing accounts
- Strong executive presence with the ability to navigate long sales cycles and multiple decision makers
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Self-directed and comfortable working remotely with a high degree of autonomy
Who You Are
You have spent your career in and around construction — specifically the specialty trades — and you understand the operational realities these contractors face every day. You don't need to be handed leads; you know how to find the right people, earn their trust, and close.
You are comfortable working in a structured, mature organization while bringing an entrepreneurial energy to new market development. You measure yourself by revenue generated and deals closed, and you have the numbers to back it up.
If your career highlights include consistently opening new accounts, breaking into new verticals, and closing six-figure enterprise deals — this role was built for you.
Why Them
- 20-year established organization with a strong reputation and proven solutions
- Existing team support — you are not building from zero
- High-autonomy, remote-first environment with full-time stability
- Competitive OTE of $350,000
- Full benefits package
