Full Time Painter Position Opening
We are seeking an experienced Painter to join our restoration team currently working on a large project with multiple buildings in Augusta, Maine. We also staff a window, door and architectural moulding restoration shop. This is a full-time position with potential immediate start. You will work on interior and exterior surfaces of buildings, as well as shop work on individual architectural elements. The ideal candidate will have the following skills, knowledge, attitude, abilities and qualifications:
Personal:
- Driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to speak, read and understand English.

Knowledge:
- Basic understanding and respect for historic buildings, moldings and architectural features.
- Best practices for painting including:
- Set up and clean up.
- Prep of various surfaces.
- Appropriate use of various paint products.
- Application techniques.
- Effects and limitations of existing conditions and how to mitigate or adapt.
Skills:
- Proficient with Scrape, Sand and Repair (SSR) techniques.
- Proficient with backer rod and caulking techniques.
- Proficient with taping and masking techniques.
- Proficient with brush/roller techniques.
- Proficient with spray techniques and equipment:
- Airless
- HVLP
- Can perform basic drywall and plaster repair.
- Can perform basic wood filling/sanding repair.
- Can safely set up and properly use:
- Ladders.
- Scaffolding.
- Various lifts (boom, scissor).
- Basic carpentry skills:
- Safe use of power tools.
- Safe use of hand tools.
- Read a tape measure.
Requirements, Training and Qualifications:
- (If you are chosen for the position, but lack some of the required training, it will be provided for you at no cost)
- OSHA10 or OSHA30
- Lead renovations, repair or painting (RRP) training.
- Physical ability and stamina to perform construction/painting tasks.
- Work involves almost constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, dirt, dust, fumes, and/or loud noises.
- Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
- Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects of 50 pounds or more. Must be capable of climbing and working from ladders up to 36 feet.
Compensation: $20-$28 to start
