Director of Total Rewards

The Director of Total Rewards is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive total rewards strategy that attracts, motivates, and retains top talent. This role ensures compensation, benefits, and reward programs are competitive, performance-driven, compliant, and aligned with organizational objectives.


As a key member of the HR leadership team, this leader provides strategic guidance, supports key business decisions, and oversees the effective administration of all total rewards programs.


Qualifications & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of broad total rewards experience including pay equity, compensation design, executive compensation, performance management, incentive programs, and benefits strategy.
  • Minimum 5 years of senior-level HR and people leadership experience.
  • HRIS experience and strong analytical capabilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Preferred: HR certifications (CHRL, SHRP, PHR, SPHR).
  • Experience using statistical or financial analysis software.
  • Strong business acumen; able to interpret financial documents and connect HR strategies to business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate future trends, identify organizational needs, and propose effective solutions.
  • Skilled in data governance, data interpretation, and coaching others in data-driven decision making.
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence decisions at the leadership level.


Job Duties

  • Lead and develop a team of compensation, benefits, HRIS, and compliance analysts.
  • Develop and recommend compensation strategies, including base pay structures, sales and commission plans, variable pay, bonus programs, and long-term incentives.
  • Review and optimize compensation programs to ensure market competitiveness, appropriate leverage, performance alignment, and accurate administration.
  • Oversee compensation materials for quarterly HR Committee and Board of Directors presentations.
  • Advise HR Business Partners, leaders, and Talent Acquisition on complex compensation matters.
  • Develop and manage the total rewards budget; conduct cost-benefit and financial analyses of programs.
  • Ensure compensation and benefits programs are compliant and effectively deployed.
  • Manage third-party vendors supporting benefits, retirement plans, and compensation services.
  • Establish performance metrics, monitor outcomes, and drive continuous program improvement.
  • Leverage predictive analytics, HRIS data, and business insights to inform decision-making and recommendations.
  • Ensure data governance, data quality, and the use of data-driven decision-making across the total rewards function.
  • Communicate results, insights, and recommendations through effective storytelling and clear data visualization.
  • Partner with business leaders to identify future needs, evaluate industry trends, and guide long-term total rewards strategy.
  • Foster a culture of coaching, development, and continuous learning within the team.
  • Serve as a role model for leadership development and lifelong learning.

Salary : $160,000 - $175,000
