About Nido de Esperanza
Nido De Esperanza (Nido) is a community-based organization that serves low-income families in northern Manhattan (Washington Heights), from pregnancy until their child turns three years old. Our mission is to create a strong foundation for babies in the first 1,000 days of life through holistic family services, helping families thrive and disrupting long-term financial poverty. Nido was founded in 2016 and currently serves approximately 165 families, operating with an annual budget of $2.9 million.
Community Social Worker
Nido is currently in an exciting period of development, as it continues to grow and increase the number of families it serves.We are looking for a full-time community social worker with an entrepreneurial and problem-solving mindset and a passion to serve immigrant communities and families with young children (0-3 years old).
What you will do:
Individual and Dyadic Work
- Conduct comprehensive client intakes including administration of assessment screenings (ie GAD7, PHQ9 etc)
- Provide trauma-informed supportive counseling to parents, this includes addressing issues of trauma and loss, domestic violence and perinatal mood disorder
- Provide person-centered case management that includes advocacy and referrals to external resources.
- Work with parent - child dyads to implement an individualized curriculum focused on family strengthening and early childhood development
- Administering developmental screenings (ASQs)
- Carry a caseload of 25 to 30 clients
- Maintain thorough case records in Salesforce
Group Work
- Organize and Facilitate weekly curriculum based parent-child developmental groups
Other Programming
- Strategize and plan the development of additional parent/baby/family programming
Provide all client services in Spanish
What You Will Bring
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work; Masters Degree in Social Work preferred
- Fluency in speaking, reading and writing Spanish required
- Prior experience working with children and families in an early childhood program
- Demonstrated case management and advocacy skills
- Strong group facilitation skills
- Excellent writing skills
- Working knowledge of databases (i.e., Salesforce) and Google Suite
- Must be highly organized and detail-oriented
- Strong work ethic
- Demonstrated commitment to working with the immigrant community.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends to support program and organizational needs
Salary Range
BSW, recent graduate: $45,000-$48,000
BSW, with some years of relevant experience: $48,000-$56,000
MSW, recent graduate: $50,000-$56,000
MSW, with years of relevant experience: $56,000- $70,000
