CEI PROJECT ADMINISTRATOR – Fort Lauderdale, FL
Description:
The CEI Project Administrator (PA) will act as a company representative on construction site to ensure workmanship and materials comply with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) specifications and plans. The PA must possess detailed knowledge of the specific aspects of assigned contracts, understanding of FDOT Special Provisions, Technical Special Provisions, Project Plans, Standard Indices, and Standard Specifications and will manage the contract to ensure all contract items are completed.
Typical Duties:
Applicant shall be capable of supervising and coordinating all phases of field representation on large complex projects and is expected to exercise initiative and independent judgment in his/her work. Directs and assigns specific tasks to Inspectors and staff and assists in all phases of projects. Is responsible for the progress and final estimates throughout construction project duration. Assignments may include, but not be limited to the following:
- Possesses ability to check and verify accuracy of dimensions.
- Observes work in progress to ensure that workmanship and materials used conform to specifications.
- Examines workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standard and approves installation.
- Interprets plans and specifications for contractor and discusses deviations from specified construction procedures to ensure compliance with regulations governing construction.
- Records quantities of materials received or used during specific periods.
- Maintains daily log of construction and inspection activities and compares progress reports.
- Computes monthly estimates of work completed.
- Prepares sketches of construction installations that deviate from plans and reports such changes for incorporation on master plans.
- MOT Certification.
- Supervises other representatives as necessary to cover all aspects of the work.
- Prepares final estimates throughout the construction project duration.
- Examines the contractor's schedule for conformance with project requirements, monitors contractor's job progress against the approved schedule, and updates the approved schedule as required.
- Reading, understanding and implementing Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures, standards and requirements.
- Abiding by all safety and health standards and requirements.
- Properly using equipment and supplies and maintaining equipment in good and operational condition.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering plus two (2) years of engineering experience (including construction of major road and bridge structures) or for non-degreed personnel eight (8) years of responsible and related engineering experience, five (5) years of which involved FDOT construction of major road or bridge structures.
- Thorough knowledge of inspection methods and techniques, construction materials, methods, and equipment, trade processes and safety procedures. If knowledge of specific trade processes is required, the incumbent will be required to possess same.
- Ability to read and interpret contract drawings, specifications, and CPM schedules for major projects.
- Ability to assist in evaluation of contractor claims.
- Ability to apply requirements of contract documents to controversial problems short of those that involve policy.
- A good knowledge of laboratory testing methods.
- Ability to handle contacts with field representatives of public agencies and clients.
- Ability to organize programs and devise procedures for a staff of lower-graded personnel.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments and a general knowledge of surveying as it applies to construction layout and control.
- Knowledge of inspection methods and techniques, construction materials, methods and equipment and safety procedures associated with construction projects.
- Performs related duties as required including, but not limited to those associated with the preparation of schedules, personnel evaluations, proposal preparation and presentations.
- Ability to schedule and coordinate subconsultants in accordance with contract requirements.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License.
