You will work closely with engineering, supply chain, contracts, and program management, serving as a trusted internal resource for ITAR, EAR, OFAC, customs, licensing, classification, and export documentation.
What You Will Do
- Administer export and trade compliance activities in accordance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations, Export Administration Regulations, U.S. Customs requirements, and Office of Foreign Assets Control regulations
- Classify products, components, software, and technical data under applicable EAR and ITAR requirements
- Support the determination and maintenance of Export Control Classification Numbers, U.S. Munitions List categories, and Harmonized Tariff Schedule classifications
- Prepare and review export documentation, including commercial invoices, Electronic Export Information filings, bills of lading, and certificates of origin
- Coordinate export license applications, track approvals, and monitor all license conditions and provisos
- Conduct restricted party and denied party screenings and escalate potential compliance concerns
- Partner with engineering, supply chain, contracts, shipping, and program management to ensure compliant domestic and international transactions
- Maintain accurate, complete, and audit ready trade compliance records
- Support internal reviews, external audits, government inquiries, and corrective actions
- Provide guidance and training to employees regarding export controls, controlled technical data, shipment requirements, and compliance responsibilities
- Identify potential regulatory risks and implement practical controls to reduce exposure
- Maintain required records in accordance with applicable regulatory retention requirements
- 3 to 7 years of experience in export compliance, customs administration, international trade compliance, or a related function
- Experience within aerospace, defense, government contracting, or advanced manufacturing
- Strong working knowledge of ITAR and EAR regulations
- One of the following required certifications:
- Export Customs Specialist Certificate
- Export Specialist Certificate
- Experience preparing and reviewing international shipping and export documentation
- Experience with product, component, or technical data classification
- Proficiency with ERP systems and export compliance software
- Strong attention to detail and a demonstrated commitment to documentation accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced, highly regulated environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with technical, operational, and business teams
- Experience supporting defense contracts, military programs, or controlled technical data
- Familiarity with HTS classification, export licensing, license provisos, and restricted party screening
- Experience supporting government audits, internal investigations, corrective actions, or voluntary disclosures
- Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field
