What are the responsibilities and job description for the Secondary Setup 3rd Shift position at Nichols Portland Inc?
Follow all ISO 14001/IATF 16949 Procedures and Work Instructions relevant to your work area.
This employee is to be familiar with the various jobs done in the Secondary Department and familiarize themselves with the job books.
Set-up personnel are responsible for setting up, as well as, programming all machines to run necessary jobs. Responsible for 1st piece inspection.
Set-up personnel must be capable of learning and utilizing gages in the inspection room and are responsible for setting up proper gaging when setting up a machine for a job.
Set-up personnel should be familiar with all types of tooling and how to change various tooling and recognize worn tools.
Must be familiar with the procedures for Non-Conforming Material and the ability to execute them with ease. The Set-up personnel have the authority to stop production if material is found suspect of being non-conforming.
Must have the ability to set-up all gages and equipment.
Must have knowledge of Plex.
Has the ability to train other employees in equipment and gage operation.
All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must be a licensed forklift operator.

Responsible for set-up of CNC equipment or other equipment in the Secondary area as directed by the Shift Supervisor.
