Follow all ISO 14001/ IATF 16949 Procedures and Work Instructions relevant to your work area when performing all duties.


Interprets engineering drawings, flow diagrams, and customer specific specifications and travelers.


Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process, and tests products for variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical and physical tests. Has the authority to discontinue production to correct a quality problem.


Sets up and performs destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance or material characteristics.


Perform density, weight and volume, and oil checks when necessary.


As required, perform floor inspection in all areas of production and have a basic understanding of SPC techniques.


Understand the Plex system to be able to write Deviations, NCM's, interpret inspection charts, and assist operators with questions.


Participates with setting up, training of the operator, and verification of product being sorted.


As required, participate in Dock Audits, minor calibration activities, and Continuous Improvement activities such as random in process audits, 5-S, etc.


Must have the ability to use and understand various inspection equipment such as CMM's, micrometers and other handheld measurement tools, hardness testers, comparator, bench center use, Tinius Olsen, scales, impact tests, surface checking equipment, Sunnen gages, M&M rolling gear tester, gage blocks, magnetometer, computer, band saw, air gage, Marh Federal gage, wet saw, Adcole, Dyer gages, and other customer specific equipment as needed.


Test sinters acceptable parts to determine proper temperature, belt speed, and loading procedure. Compare and record measurement results on the first piece sintering control plan.


Maintain thorough knowledge of adjusting temperatures and atmospheres of furnaces.


Have the ability to start up (including monitoring of test sinter for furnaces that require testing of part hardness prior to running production). This includes the ability to start air compressors, dryer, and to turn on switch for low air alarms.


Have the ability to shut down the furnaces.


Inspect parts using the sintering (first piece) control plan, follow appropriate work instructions and control plan for parts found out of specification.


Time the furnace belt or push speed.


Answer and log furnace alarms.


Complete paperwork at part change over for the furnace.


Set up gaging for the sintering department operators.


Print proper paperwork for sintering department (travelers, loading instructions, control plans, min/ max charts, furnace settings).


Review problems or solutions with other QA personnel during the event and at shift change.


Assist in the training of QA personnel in the following areas; control plans, Traveler, MSDS Sheets, WI & SOP’s for Quality, Plex Work Instruction Access, and Pre-Control Charts.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); plus six months experience in floor inspection or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must be willing to attend and complete training classes and seminars as required. Computer experience is required. Must have good communication and people skills, be self-motivated, self-driven with the ability to multi-task.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in Quality Assurance is usually moderate and loud on the production floor.

Tests and inspects products at various stages of production process and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products.
