What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler position at Nichols Portland Inc?
Follow all ISO 14001/IATF 16949 Procedures and Work Instructions relevant to your work area.
Operates forklift to assist in loading, unloading, or moving pallets (wooden and wire) used in holding and transporting product. Maintain forklift by regularly checking the fluid level and changing/charging the battery.
Keep track of the location and movement of green parts throughout the facility via computer.
Remove full pallets of parts from all molding presses and provide replacements with the forklift.
Store full pallets in green storage area in an orderly manner to provide prompt access for removal to the Sintering Department. Supply molded green parts to the Sintering Operators as required. Maintain green storage area and sweep up green parts that fall from pallets.
Moves material in all departments; molding, sintering front and back, secondary, QA, shipping, and non-conforming area.
Locate molding presses that are finishing and get mix ready for next setup. Record all data and information as necessary.
Unload trucks arriving with raw materials and process the necessary paperwork. Tag the raw material and enter all information in the computer system.
Fill presses with necessary raw material utilizing forklift.
Relive Sintering and Molding Operators during scheduled breaks.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months related experience and/or on the job training.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money, and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with occasional or no variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must be certified to operate a forklift.

Coordinates and expedites the flow of powder metal parts between departments.
Operates Mix Room and all equipment to provide appropriate raw materials to the Molding Department for producing quality powder metal parts.
