Niagara Heavy Truck Repair is looking for an experienced Heavy Truck Mechanic to join our growing operation in Western New York.

We specialize in the repair and maintenance of heavy-duty commercial trucks, with a strong focus on vocational and waste-industry equipment. We are looking for someone who can diagnose problems, make quality repairs, and take pride in getting trucks back on the road the right way.

This is a hands-on mechanic position working alongside an experienced heavy-truck technician in a shop that is continuing to invest in professional diagnostic equipment, tools, and capabilities.

What You'll Work On

Our work primarily involves Class 7 and Class 8 commercial trucks, including:

  • Freightliner and Kenworth trucks
  • Detroit and Cummins engines
  • Roll-off and vocational trucks
  • Hydraulic systems and PTO equipment
  • Air brake systems
  • Electrical and wiring issues
  • Cooling systems
  • Suspension and steering
  • Preventive maintenance
  • DOT-related repairs
  • Engine and drivetrain diagnostics
  • Aftertreatment and emissions systems

The work ranges from routine maintenance and component replacement to electrical, hydraulic, and drivability diagnostics.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and air-system problems
  • Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on heavy-duty trucks
  • Use diagnostic software and service information to troubleshoot faults
  • Inspect trucks and identify needed repairs
  • Complete repairs accurately and efficiently
  • Communicate parts and repair needs clearly
  • Document work performed
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Perform road tests and verify repairs when appropriate
  • Work with the lead technician to keep trucks moving through the shop

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone with actual heavy-truck experience who is comfortable working independently.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Previous heavy-duty truck or diesel repair experience
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with Detroit and/or Cummins engines
  • Understanding of air brakes and commercial truck systems
  • Ability to diagnose electrical problems using wiring diagrams and test equipment
  • Hydraulic experience is a major plus
  • Roll-off, refuse, dump truck, or other vocational truck experience is a major plus
  • Ability to use scan tools and computer-based diagnostic software
  • Valid driver's license
  • CDL is a plus but not required

You do not need to know everything. We care about mechanical ability, troubleshooting skills, work ethic, and a willingness to learn.

About the Shop

We are building a heavy-truck repair operation focused on doing quality work and becoming a specialized resource for commercial fleets and waste-industry trucks throughout Western New York.

We operate our own fleet of heavy trucks, so we understand what downtime costs a customer. Our goal is straightforward: diagnose the problem correctly, repair it properly, and get the truck back to work.

We are investing in the equipment and diagnostic capabilities needed to make our technicians more productive rather than expecting them to troubleshoot modern trucks without the proper tools.
