Overview
Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center is actively seeking a part-time Dietary Supervisor to work in our Nutrition Services department. This individual demonstrates commitment to the philosophy and values of NFMMC. Provides high quality food service for patients staff and visitors. Participates in organization’s community programs to promote proper nutrition. Maintains commitment to profession growth. Maintains effective written and verbal communication. Participates in managerial responsibilities. Accepts responsibility for own attendance and punctuality to ensure the department is operated in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
Responsibilities
- Plans organizes and directs employees, to include sanitation, serving procedure, portion control and informational feedback from dietitians regarding patient visitations.
- Complies with assigned budgetary controls for personnel, capital equipment, supplies and operating expenses, while maintaining acceptable standards of sanitation and service.
- Responsible for planning adequate staffing of the patient tray line, special feeding and ware washing areas, with assurance that proper schedules are met for patient
- Supervises truck and tray delivery and return
- Maintains acceptable standards of food service, food quality, sanitation, safety, temperature and time schedules.
- Promptly reports equipment in need of repair.
- Assist in product and system evaluations and operational studies.
- Handles patient and customer food service complaints, where applicable
- Revises and maintains adequate dishwashing, sanitizing and storage procedures.
- Revises, procures and maintains adequate levels of food, supplies and service ware.
- Controls late tray and minor food preparation supporting the tray service.
- Assures compliance to proper handling techniques as specified by the Department of Health.
- Hires, trains schedules, commends, disciplines, evaluates and recommends the discharge of assigned personnel.
- Prepares and posts all Nutrition Services schedules.
- Responsible to maintain proper time and attendance records for department employees
- Performs other related duties as assigned, or as may be required to emergency situations
- Communicates effectively with other FNSD and management by timely reporting of information from patient/resident/employee food service feed back.
- Communicates effectively with other FNSD members; attends and participates in departmental meetings.
- Develops and monitors performance improvement activities related to food service activities and coordinates performance improvements related to patient/resident food service with Director.
- Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of regulatory standards by being in compliance.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the department objectives and strategic plan.
- Attends professional meetings and conferences to keep informed of current.
- Accepts responsibility for own attendance and punctuality to ensure the department is operated in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
- Responsible for daily monetary deposits of cafeteria revenue, daily monetary safe audits (Petty Cash) in compliance with daily standards.
Education and Experience
- ASS in Foodservice, Dietetics/Nutrition or Culinary Arts
- Certified Dietary Manager
- Serve Safe Certification, National Restaurant Association
- Food service management competence. One or more years food service management experience desired.
