NIA and FAZTEK are locally owned and established manufacturing companies serving industries such as anodizing and T-slot aluminum. In October 2025, Governor Braun visited our facilities to celebrate NIA's significant growth and expansion. We support 160 employees across both operations and are building a strong HR foundation to match our continued growth.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced HR Generalist to provide comprehensive HR support across our manufacturing operations. Reporting to the HR Manager, this role will handle the full scope of the HR generalist functions including employee relations, recruitment, compliance, leave administration, and employee engagement. This position works directly with the HR Manager to support company goals and drive HR initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring strong HR compliance knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently while maintaining open communication with leadership.
Position Responsibilities
Employee Relations & Support
- Provide guidance to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and best practices
- Address employee concerns, resolve conflicts, and conduct workplace investigations as needed
- Partner with leadership to maintain a positive work environment aligned with company values
- Support performance management processes including coaching, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement plans
Talent & Staffing
- Manage full-cycle recruitment: post positions, screen candidates, conduct interviews, and coordinate offers
- Conduct new hire orientations and ensure smooth onboarding for all employees
- Support employee retention and engagement initiatives
Compliance & Leave Administration
- Administer employee leave programs including FMLA, ADA accommodations, workers' compensation, and disability claims
- Maintain I-9 compliance, personnel files, and required employment documentation
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws including FLSA and OSHA requirements
- Coordinate safety training and track required certifications
Payroll Support
- Review and approve employee timecards
- Process time-off requests and manage PTO tracking
- Enter bonuses and other payroll adjustments
- Answer employee payroll-related questions
General HR Operations
- Maintain accurate employee records in HRIS system (Paycom)
- Coordinate benefits enrollment and answer employee questions
- Process employment verifications and routine HR documentation
- Handle employee terminations including exit interviews and final documentation
- Support employee engagement initiatives and company events
- Additional duties as assigned
Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Required:
- 2-4 years of HR experience; manufacturing environment preferred
- Working knowledge of employment law including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, and OSHA basics
- Experience with HRIS systems (Paycom experience helpful)
- Strong administrative skills and attention to detail
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and exercise sound judgment
- Self-directed work style with ability to manage competing priorities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Work Schedule:
Primary office hours are 8am-5pm with flexibility to support 2nd and 3rd shifts as needed
Preferred:
- SHRM-CP or PHR certification

Physical Requirements
This position is primarily office-based with regular time on the manufacturing floor. Must be comfortable in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, equipment, and standard safety protocols.
