About This Role

A classroom floater position requires flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to work with different age groups and in diverse learning environments. As a classroom floater, you will provide support in various classrooms within a school or childcare center, filling in for absent teachers, assisting with daily routines, and ensuring children's safe and engaging environment. The ideal candidate will be able to think on their feet, work independently, and collaborate with staff members to create a positive and engaging learning experience for young children.

What You'll Do

 In this role, you will be responsible for the care, development, and well-being of children aged 6 weeks to 5 years old, while fostering a positive and engaging learning experience. This may involve covering staff absences, assisting with daily activities, supporting child development, maintaining a safe environment, communicating with staff and families, and adapting to different classrooms.


Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting child development through interactive play, reading, and other engaging activities.
  • Assisting with daily routines, such as mealtime, nap time, and outdoor play.
  • Covering staff absences and providing backup support in various classrooms.
  • Maintaining a safe and healthy environment for children, including supervising play and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
  • Communicating effectively with staff members, families, and children to build strong relationships and ensure a positive learning experience.
  • Adapting to different classroom environments and student needs, while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.

Requirements

  • Ability to work well with a team and communicate effectively with staff members and families.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; CDA or related degree preferred.
  • Experience or willingness to learn how to work with children ages 6 weeks through 5 years.
  • Patience, nurturing personality, and ability to create a positive environment.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and think on your feet.
  • CPR and first aid certification within the first 30 days of employment

Nice to Have

  • Current CDA and/or AA or certificate in Early Childhood Education.
